  • Introduction


  • Chair Joshua Hampton began the meeting by stating that the co-Vice Chairs, Trevor Kershaw and Jeremy Putt, will be running this meeting.
  • The Chair congratulated the new officers from the elections held last meeting.
  • Joshua inquired about who applied for membership and if any problems occurred while applying online.
  • Old Business


  • One of the pending goals of the school year is to make an official mission statement for the club
  • The Chair asked about the budget of the club, but no news of an official amount has been stated yet:
  • The Treasure will try to look into this matter by next meeting.
  • The Website Administrator informed the club that the chapter's website is in the process of being finalized with a new template:

    • New Order of Business


    • The club will be hosting an "Egg Drop Contest" on November 14th from 3 pm - 5:30 pm; participates engineer a contraption to be dropped that will protect the egg from cracking.
    • Possible locations to host the contest are the sky walk corridor or a second floor classroom.
    • There will be a $5 entrance fee and the winner will get 30% of the proceedings, while others will be entered in a raffle for a $10 Megabyte Cafe certificate
    • Participates have until Friday, November 3rd to sign up.
    • The participates will build their contraptions on November 9th
    • They will have to pick up their materials from our advisor, Dr. Conner, before November 9th.
    • Possible supplies for the contest:
    • 1 meter of duck tape
    • 12 straws, toothpicks, and 6 popsicle sticks
    • A dozen eggs
    • 5 sheets of tissue paper
    • With the of Prof. Jablonski, Joshua is trying to organize a field trip to the Applied Psychics Lab at Johns Hopkins University possibly on Friday, November 17th or on a later Friday.
    • Teandra inquired about having something specifically targeted at women
    • Joshua mentioned that WIE, a subdivision for women engineers, is sponsored by the IEEE.
    • The newsletter "Scanner", which is located in the library, discussed a seminar held at George Washington University about "Starting Your Own Business" by WIE.
    • Joshua expressed interest in attending this seminar.
    • The next SAC Conference will be held in Canton, OH during the Spring semester.
    • The club could possibly take the Greyhound to the event.
    • Co-Vice Chair Jeremy proposed “All Night Gaming” event in the Student Center before December.
    • Jeremy is willing to bring his Nintendo Gamecube to the event to be used.


    • Third Order of Business


    • There is a possibility that the club could two meetings a week:
    • Thursday could be reserved as a summarized meeting of events.
    • Co-Vice Chairs would probably run the Thursday meetings.
    • The Chair wants to start having raffles at each meeting to possibly increase membership.
    • Joshua opened the floor to questions and comments.
    • The meeting adjourned by stating that a brief meeting will be held on next Tuesday at 3 pm in room 138.
