  • Introduction


  • Temporary Chair Joshua Hampton began the meeting by apologizing for the discrepancy with the meeting location.
  • The Chair explained what IEEE is about and the activities the club has engaged in the previous school year.
  • Old Business


  • Joshua informed the group about membership fee deadlines:
  • Freshman and new members have until February 2007
  • Returning members have until December of this year
  • Students now must join IEEE via an online application because the print-out application is no longer available.
  • Membership fees are currently $30/year, but are scheduled to increase to $40/year by next school year.
  • The SAC Conference was held at Drexel University last semester and it is unclear about the next location and date.
  • The Chair informed the group about the various activities that took place during the SAC Conference.


    • New Order of Business


    • The Chair opened the floor for Elections.
    • Positions available for the new semester: Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Website Administrator.
    • Cori Holder volunteered to be the Website Administrator with no one opposed.
    • Trevor Kershaw and Jeremy Putt expressed interest for the Vice Chair.
    • Teandra asked about the possibility of having co-Vice Chairs.
    • Dr. Conner, our advisor, explained that the bylaws permitted co-Vice Chairs.
    • Trevor Kershaw and Jeremy Putt agreed to be co-Vice Chairs.
    • Gregory Yates inquired about being Treasurer without being opposed.
    • James Dorsey asked to be Secretary for the club with no opposition.
    • The unofficial Chair, Joshua Hampton, asked if anyone wanted to be Chair of the club.
    • Without being opposed, Joshua Hampton became the official Chair of the club.
    • Joshua wants to create a mission statement for the club.
    • Bruce Fields made a PowerPoint presentation about a preliminary mission statement the club could use.
    • It was asked that everyone contributed to the mission statement.
    • Possible events for the school year:
    • RC car contest
    • Trip to the Smithsonian Museum
    • Cori can possibly get information on tours because of current employment.


    • Third Order of Business


    • Dr. Conner will give Cori information about using WinSCP for the website.
    • The Chair talked about having contacting SPAC to have professionals come talk to the club about varying topics, such as:
    • Leadership
    • Entrepreneurship.
    • The Chair will circulate information about SPAC by email at a later date.
    • Military officials could also come give seminars to the club.
    • Teandra has an uncle who is a military recruiter that could possibly talk to the club.
    • Joshua inquired about Teandra being the membership recruiter for the club.
    • The meeting adjourned by stating that the next meeting will probably be on next Tuesday at 3 pm in room 138.
