Minutes from meeting & Agenda

If you are a member and you missed the last meeting, you can find out all of the
information that you missed on this page. This section of the website goes into detail
about what was discussed in the last meeting, any new developments, and what will be
the focus for the next meeting. For those of you who are not members, feel free to
read these minutes. This information is helpful to non-members because it can help you
decide about joining our organization. Not only will you read about what was discussed
in the previous meeting but you will be informed about activities that the group will be
partaking in. Below are the minutes for the previous meeting. In the future there will

Minutes from November 7th Meeting


  • Introduction


  • The meeting began by the co-Vice Chairs, Trevor Kershaw and Jeremy Putt, stating that they will be running this meeting in the absence of the Chair.
  • The co-Vice Chairs stated that any questions that could not be answered in this meeting will be relayed back to the Chair
  • Old Business


  • The purpose and the procedures of the Egg Drop Contest were summarized.
  • The field trips for the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and the Business Seminar will be on the same day, this Friday at different times.
  • The Secretary mentioned that he put up a blog on the main Myspace page announcing this meeting to attract new members. Here are the Myspace pages:

    • New Order of Business


    • The Egg Drop Contest is canceled due to lack of participation
    • A new fundraising event was proposed, "The Electronic Kits Fundraiser": the club sells applied electronics kits for people to design practical devices (e.g. Door-Alarm system, Voice-Activation products, etc).
    • Some of the electronic kits may require soldering.
    • Trevor mentioned that the club can host a building event for the electronic kits next semester, after selling an initial amount of the kits this semester.
    • The co-Vice Chairs asked if anyone thought of any ideas relating to a Mission Statement for the club.


    • Third Order of Business


    • Dr. Conner mentioned that IEEE will be sponsoring a trip and to contact Prof. John Ryan about the details.
    • Jeremy has to write a four-page proposal for the "All Night Gaming Event".
    • He has to contact Melinda Bunnell-Rhyne, Student Life Coordinator, about reserving a night and a big screen television for the event.
    • Dr. Conner suggested that the club hosts a variation of the Egg Drop Contest, "Model Rocket Contest": eggs are attached to the launched rockets, while keeping the eggs from breaking on the impact.
    • Dr. Conner mentioned that this event was a success last semester.
    • The club will supply the engines and eggs.
    • Toys R' Us sells inexpensive engines, but finding a retailer may be hard due to the company's Chapter 8 status.
    • The club's school website will be posted on the Myspace pages to interconnect all of the club's websites together.
    • Cori mentioned that he talked to his supervisor about possibly having a tour at the Smithsonian Museum, mostly on a Saturday.
    • Trevor and Jeremy opened the floor to questions and comments.
    • The meeting adjourned by stating that there will be a meeting held on next Tuesday at 3 pm in room 138
